šŸŒThe languages I speak and the life they’ve shaped

LANGUAGE

Language is more than words. It’s emotion, culture, memory… and connection.

I often get asked where I’m from, and the truth is, my answer lives in the languages I speak.

I speak Spanish, English, Italian, a bit of Catalan, and several dialects from Uganda including Lusoga, Luganda, Lunyankore, and Runyoro. Each of these languages carries a piece of my story—and together, they’ve shaped not only who I am, but how I create.

🧵 Language as a Thread of Identity

Just like yarn in my hands, language stitches everything together.

  • SpanishĀ is part of my daily life—it’s where I express, connect, and grow in my current environment.
  • EnglishĀ gives me access to a global community, allowing me to share my work beyond borders.
  • ItalianĀ brings elegance and artistic sensitivity, influencing the aesthetic side of my creations.
  • Catalan, even in small doses, helps me feel rooted where I am.
  • My Ugandan languages—Lusoga, Luganda, Lunyankore, Runyoro—carry my heritage, my childhood, my family, my essence.

Each language is a different voice within me.

🌐 The Impact on My Life and Work

Speaking multiple languages has changed how I see the world—and how I create within it.

It has taught me:

  • Empathy — understanding people beyond words
  • Adaptability — moving between cultures with openness
  • Creativity — expressing ideas in different ways
  • Connection — building bridges where there were once gaps

In my crochet work, this shows up as diversity in color, texture, and inspiration. My pieces are not just handmade—they are multi-cultural stories, stitched together with influence from every place and language I carry.

šŸ’› More Than Communication

For me, language is not just about speaking—it’s about belonging.

It allows me to:

  • Feel at home in different parts of the world
  • Connect deeply with people from different backgrounds
  • Tell stories that resonate across cultures

And most importantly, it reminds me that identity is not one place, one voice, or one language—it’s a beautiful mix.

✨ A Final Thought

Just like every stitch matters in a handmade piece, every language I speak adds value to my life.

They’ve taught me that beauty lives in diversity—and that the more we understand each other, the more meaningful everything we create becomes.

One language at a time, I have learnt.

The diversity in my language mix is the art that inspires my creativity.
